![]() The sun practically split the stones on the opening day of the Punchestown Festival 2014. Gates opened at 12 noon and saw an amazing layout for the event but very few attendees - within two hours the place was packed! Cars, trucks and trailers lined the surrounding fields, smells of hot dogs and candy floss wafted through the air and the lights and music burst on from the fair ground machines. To kick off the activities, the HSI Showcase Parade started at 2.15pm and none other then our very own Karen Reilly (Senior International Team) and Sheaffe Monteith (Leinster TREC Secretary) flew the flag for TREC Ireland. Karen looked the part, dressed in all her orienteering gear and riding Rock on Villa (aka Roxy), her incredibly calm and well-behaved Irish Sport Horse mare. Sheaffe strode in front as Chef d'equip, full of smiles and very proud to be representing her club. All in all a fantastic day made all the better by our 'bluebottle' fans - thanks everyone! |
